The Italian government has forbidden any Sri Lankan from Italy to travel to Sri Lanka without any urgency or necessity.
It is reported that the Italian government has imposed severe restrictions on all Sri Lankan’s including expatriates, including the Sri Lankan’s, due to the rapid spread of the COVID-19 virus (corona-virus).
Mr. Sisira Seneviratne, the acting Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Rome, said that the death of a family friend and the emergence of an illness is prohibited from leaving Italy without seeing the facts.
“The whole country is closed now. Therefore, it is impossible for anyone to leave the country. It also requires a long procedure”.
He further stated that they are allowed to leave the country only after the relevant documents have been submitted to the relevant police.
